The Pertosa´s Caves or the Angel are ones of marvels most famous to the
Cilento National Park, they are sited in the range of
Alburni and their birth date derives from about
35 million years ago.
The caves were lived since the stone age,
the Greeks and to the Romans and subsequently
the Christians used them as place of cult,
in particular the Christians consecrated
them to
San Michele Arcangelo.
The Archangel´s caves develop themeselves
to well
2.500 metres through shafts, tunnels and caves to considerable sizes,
their beauty should have the presence of
stalactites and stalagmites besides their
special characteristic is that must to cover
a little lake to visit them.
The visit of caves
starts on a barge
that
it navigates in the
bowels of the earth
to
hundreds metres,
once reached the
landing
place the marvel
of caves strikes
the visitors'sense,
grasslands of stalactites
hang down to vault
of caves and the
stalagmites go up
in shapes
more varied.
Later on penetrate
themselves in shafts,
that they flow into
grandiose saloons
that
they leave the visitor
amazed and joyful.
